Stepinac junior PG Josh James (left, in blue) will no longer player football and focus on basketball, according to a story in today’s New York Post. I can confirm the other nugget from the same story — that James has already received a scholarship offer from St. Peter’s.
After playing JV football for Stepinac in the fall, the 6-footer from Greenburgh started at the point for the majority of his sophomore basketball season for the Crusaders, who reached the CHSAA’s “A” semifinals. He has continued to progress into the AAU season. According to Zach Braziller of the Post, James played well this week, earning himself a spot in the underclassmen all-star game at the Hoop Group Elite Session in Reading, Pa.
Stepinac coach Tim Philp confirmed that James received the scholarship offer. James has also garnered significant interest from Iona and Fordham.
